Healthcare Information Technology
This program is designed to help clinicians better understand basic HIT concepts ranging from learning the informatics domains, to understanding the legal and regulatory drivers of HIT initiatives. This continuing education program is not designed to transform you into an informatician, but it will help you feel more comfortable with the concepts and language of HIT.
Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine
This program is designed to help you fill in knowledge gaps and to begin applying pharmacogenomics in your practice. Pharmacogenomics is the study of the role of the genome in drug response. Pharmacogenomics analyzes how the genetic makeup of an individual affects their response to drugs and aims to develop rational means to optimize drug therapy, with respect to the patients' genotype, to ensure maximum efficacy with minimal adverse effects.
Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT)
Healthcare providers in all settings often encounter signs of our nation's growing substance misuse and abuse. This learning module is designed to teach SBIRT, (Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment), an important skill set designed to help with early detection and intervention. During this training, participants will learn to screen patients for substance misuse, and effectively communicate to promote change based on the evidence-based SBIRT model promoted by the federal Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
