Healthcare Information Technology

Welcome to Shenandoah University's Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) Certificate program, an interactive, fun, and easily accessible learning platform for mid-career clinicians.

Many of us obtained our clinical credentials before HIT became part of the clinical training curriculum, and it seems like there is a daily infusion of new technology in healthcare. This HIT certificate program is designed to help you fill in knowledge gaps of what goes on behind the technology interface, to better understand the role of HIT, and help you feel less overwhelmed by the technology at your practice site.

Designed with subject-matter experts, these short modules can be viewed in 15-20 minute increments. They can be completed separately to earn continuing education credit, or as a complete series to earn a certificate. The program is designed to help clinicians better understand basic HIT concepts ranging from learning the informatics domains, to understanding the legal and regulatory drivers of HIT initiatives. This continuing education program is not designed to transform you into an informatician, but it will help you feel more comfortable with the concepts and language of HIT.
